Area of square = Side x Side




Q.1. One side of a square measures 1.4 m. Find its area.

Solution:

Side of the square = 1.4 m
Area of the square = side x side
                                  = 1.4 m x 1.4 m
                                 = 1.96 sq. m




Q.2. The length of a rectangle is 25 cm and its breadth is 15 cm. Find the area.

Solution:

Area of the rectangle = length X Breadth
                                     = 25 cm X 15 cm
                                    = 375 sq. cm




3. The area of a rectangular envelope is 200 sq. cm. If its length measures 20 cm. Find its breadth.

Solution:

Area of rectangle  = Length X Breadth
    Breadth  =  Area / Length
                    = 200/ 20
                   = 10 cm

4. The area of a rectangular field is 5750 sq. m. If the breadth of the field is 25 m. find the length of the field.

Solution:

 Length   = Area / Breadth
               = 5750 / 25
              = 230 m Ans.

Area of rectangle = Length   x  Breadth                         

Area of a square   =  side  x   side
